Dog Obedience Training, The Secrets

May 16th, 2008 Dr.Mayra Posted in Pets | No Comments »

Initially, what is necessary if you decided to train your dog? The first plan is usually the most essential thing to perform and also ignored. If you are preparing to enhance your pet’s behavior, it is truly essential to check your entire relationship with your pet. It is recommended to teach your pet with dog obedience training once you have a good bond with your pet. Though, the relationship with your dog will be stronger once you undergo your pet to a dog obedience training. Definitely, the basic relationship with your pet is vital in order for your dog to have trust on you.

If you don’t have a strong attachment with your dog, the dog obedience training will not run smoothly and will make you feel frustrated as you go along each tasks. If you are focusing on particular behaviors, and your dog is not cooperating well, you may break this procedure into an easy step by step procedure in order for the handler to manage the dog obedience training uncomplicatedly. If you want to implement to your dog to not bark simultaneously, you must be able to teach the canine by command. After this command is well established on the dog, you will be able to silent him on command as well as to teach him to bark on command. Dog obedience training is not all about training the dog with the ultimate objectives at first. You can surely begin the dog obedience training with simple commands.

One of the behaviors that the handler wants to implement to their dog is for the pet to learn not to chew on household things. One remedy to this dilemma may include having a lot of dog toys for the dog to focus his attention with. You can have 4-5 toys that the dog can play upon each time, if you will give him a tremendous number of toys he will eventually lose interest in it and will return to chew on your household items. To implement dog obedience training upon your dog you can teach him to pick his toys on command. A simple toy that is scattered on the floor can be a tool for the dog training to be accomplished and for the pet to have a work to perform.

If you own a new dog, you must be able to point out the problems with your pet. Once you determine the dog behavior problems of your pet, you can now begin to apply the dog obedience training to them. If your dog loves to chew on your household items, this is not his fault. But it is a natural tendency of the dog to chew on furniture. These are common negative behavior of dogs that you must focus on, and to be able to learn the training procedures that is essential for the dog to know that his behavior is not appropriate. If you did not exert any effort to train your puppy, eventually it grows older, the behavior problem that it possesses will worsen, and this would make it more difficult to train the dog.

Dog Training; Be The Alpha Or Loose Your Sit

May 16th, 2008 Dr.Mayra Posted in Pets | No Comments »

Training your dog is a two-way process. Both dog and dog trainer play important parts in the puppy training. Whether you’ve just added a puppy to your household or you already live with an older dog, dog training benefits everyone. It helps strengthen the bond between you and your dog, and produces a well-behaved dog. You’ll end up with a happier, calmer dog, and with family and friends who aren’t hesitant to visit you and your pet.

To train your dog properly, you need to understand why he behaves the way he does. Regardless of breed, all dogs are pack animals. Domesticated dogs, it is believed, may have descended from wolves. Like wolves, they consider everyone who shares their living space to be a member of their pack. Most dogs would prefer not to be the pack leader. However, if you do not behave like a leader, your dog will feel obligated to assume that role. It’s really just like life in the wild.

For training to succeed, you need to assume the obligation of being the leader of the pack. Your dog must realize that you outrank him. A dog is always looking for the person who can protect and guide him: that’s you. If you are very firm and consistent with your dog, he will understand this. Even if you don’t think you fit the “pack leader” role, there are things you can do to underscore your position as the Alpha Creature of the house. For example, don’t feed your dog till after you (and your family) are finished eating. Letting him wait and follow you out the door will also help. Don’t worry about pulling rank on your dog once in a while. If he’s curled comfortably in one corner of the couch, make him move over and take the place he was using. If he sleeps on your bed and tends to crowd you over, push him off and make him sleep on the floor. All these actions will help establish the vital chain of command.

Never hit your dog or abuse him in any way if he doesn’t do well in training. This will just make the situation worse. Your dog can sense your frustration; the result will be that he loses self-confidence. If he becomes nervous about your training sessions, he will be distracted and perform poorly. Your staying calm and firm will help him try harder to please you, and do better next time.

Remember that practice makes perfect. The key ingredient in any dog training program is consistency. You will teach your pet better if you keep focused on the dog training and do not deviate from the task.

Every dog owner wants a well behaved dog, but to do so, they need to make sure that their dog understands the household ranking. You can have the best dog in the world, but if your dog does not understand that you are the “master” or the “alpha” of the pack, he will want to dominate the situation by becoming what he needs from you.

Why Dog Obedience Training Is Necessary?

May 16th, 2008 Dr.Mayra Posted in Pets | No Comments »

You have adopted a puppy and it belongs to a breed that is considered to be quite intelligent. Should you, the pet owner, assume that the pet animal will instinctively follow your commands? Do you believe that is ok to skip the dog training classes? If you make this assumption, then you might be in big trouble.

Puppies are not born with the knowledge about what to do when its master says “sit.” Puppies and dogs need to undergo a phase of learning. This learning happens best during dog training, and this learning should be carried out by the owner, even if you decide to perform the dog obedience training at home or take your puppy to dog obedience school. One of the most crucial kinds of dog training is the dog obedience training. Knowing how to train a dog begins by knowing why he should be trained. There are three most popular reasons why the pet should undergo obedience training.

First, the dog obedience class is vital for a healthy relationship between the pet and the owner. This relationship, despite what many owners say, is not a friendship. The dog does not look at the owner as a friend. And the dog does not think of itself as a friend. In fact, the concept of “friend” may not have crossed the pet’s mind. The dog is an animal and it only understands the concept of master and follower. The owner does not want to give the dog the impression that the dog is the master. The dog owner is always the master. The dog does not sit when told to sit because it wanted to impress other people. The dog sits because it wanted to make its master happy and proud.

Second, when the dog owner teaches the dog obedience tips to his pet it will make the dog an acceptable member of the society. Not everyone is enamored by dogs. The main reasons why people do not want dogs are that dogs bark, dogs jump, and dogs urinate. All these behaviors are unacceptable.

With obedience training, the dog will know which behaviors are approved and which behaviors are not allowed in various situations. In this way, the owner can bring and present her dog to her friends and relatives without fear that the dog will suddenly bark or leap. The dog will also know how to behave in the presence of other dogs and other animals.

And third, the dog obedience training will support the mental and physical development of the animal. The dog’s mind must be stimulated and the source of such stimulation is the dog trainer. This is why dog owners also talk with their dogs. If the dog is generally ignored, there is insufficient mental stimulation and the dog will conduct its own explorations, including the chewing of carpet and furniture.

The dog’s physical development is enhanced by obedience classes because dogs are naturally energetic. The dog is happy to run, jump, and race. Without dog training, this excess energy will be channeled towards other behaviors that may not be acceptable at all.

With puppy training, a dog will know that it has a special role to play in the society. The dog is also confident about what to do in order to please its master. Dog training should also start early. This is why many dog owners begin with puppy obedience training.

Hair Loss – 3 Tips On Natural Hair Loss Treatment

May 16th, 2008 WongDarren Posted in Medicines and Remedies | No Comments »

The hair is a woman’s crowning glory that adds to her glamour and beauty. This is basically the reason why seeing a relatively unusual amount of hair strands after a shampoo or a vigorous brushing can be pretty alarming, most especially for women. Wouldn’t a thin-haired or bald woman make you awkwardly uncomfortable?

Hair loss can be considered disastrous, especially for the female gender. There are many hair loss medical treatments, which offer positive results, depending primarily on the cause and extent of hair loss. However, experts say that there are also various natural treatments that can be beneficial to one’s hair, one of which is eating a healthy and nutritious diet.

1. A Healthy and Nutritious Diet

Basically, the foods that contribute to the overall health of the body are also good for the hair. These include foods that are rich in protein and have low carbohydrates and fat content. Canola oil, fish, soy, and walnuts contain essential fatty acids, which is an important dietary content in promoting a healthy hair growth. Omega 3 fatty acids are also beneficial for the hair.

Iron deficiency may lead to anemia, which consequently reduces the supply of blood to the hair, causing hair loss. Hence, foods that are rich in iron, such as brewer’s yeast, liver, and broccoli, must be added in the diet. Meat, eggs, and poultry are also good foods for the hair because of their vitamin B12 content. Other B vitamins, especially biotin, are also essential for a healthy hair growth. Most often than not, biotin supplements are prescribed along with drugs of choice for hair loss, such as Proscar, Propecia, and minoxidil. Biotin is not just good for the hair, but is also good for the skin and nails as well.

Zinc supplements are also recommended because zinc because it can help reduce the androgen levels in the body. Androgen is one of the hormones that are involved in some genetic hair loss such as the male-pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia. However, it is essential that zinc should remain properly in ratio with copper.

2. Herbs

The saw palmetto acts very much like Finasteride which inhibits the activity of hair loss causing androgens in the follicles of the hair. As this is the case, women should never use saw palmetto without consulting a physician. Green tea can help reduce the testosterone in a woman’s bloodstream, hence blocking the cycle of hormonal activities that are responsible for the occurrence of some types of hair loss. Sage tea and apple cider vinegar can be directly applied on the scalp to stimulate the growth of hair. Horsetail is one great source of silica, which is an essential component of a healthy growing hair.

3. Hair Care

Hair care products and procedures, such as shampoos, bleaches, dyes, even hair iron and blow dryers may not cause medical or genetic hair problems. Hence, women suffering from genetic or medical hair loss should not be scared on perming or grooming their hair. Necessary precautions are needed though as dye or perming solution might inflame one’s scalp and may bring about hair loss problems.

Boys And School-Reasons That Boys Do More Poorly Than Girls

May 16th, 2008 ScarlettCapelli Posted in Parenting | No Comments »

It has been a long-standing fact that girls do better in school than boys do. It was not until recent years, however, that experts have conducted studies to explain this phenomenon. The results show that it may be the changes in the school and the methods of teaching that may be adding to this situation.

Most children begin school at the age of five. While most girls are mature enough at this age, many boys are not. They have not fully developed their verbal and social skills and have difficulty adjusting to the school environment. These youngsters become frustrated and do not adjust to failures as well as their more mature counterparts. This may lead these boys to develop a dislike for school that will remain with them throughout their academic career.

Kindergarten has also changed in recent years. In the past, reading was taught at the first grade level. Today children start to learn to read in kindergarten. Due to their immature verbal skills, many boys are not ready to read at this younger age. As this is the time when the building blocks for reading are taught, many boys may just slip by without totally comprehending these basics which can lead to difficulty with reading that will follow them their entire lives.

Another difficulty that little boys have in school due to their lack of maturity is in the area of language skills. As the largest majority of elementary school classes are language-based, this can cause your son to fail in a number of different subjects which may cause him to consider himself to be stupid and to just give up.

Another change in the school structure that is challenging for young boys is the lack of physical activity. Many schools have cut down on recess and recreation time to enable the students to learn all the information that is required by most states. Boys are more active than girls, and may have difficulty sitting still for these extended periods of time. The fact that most of this sitting time involves your son doing written work that he is not equipped to do leads to frustration and a general dislike for anything to do with learning. This inability to sit still as also led to boys being diagnosed with ADD and ADHD much more often than girls.

Studies have also shown that boys learn much easier with hands-on activities than from written material. Due to the reduction of funding in many school districts, many of these institutions lack the money to include creative projects as part of the learning process.

Another factor that may lead to your son having difficulty when he starts to learn to read is the fact that more often than not his teacher is a female. While this statement may seem to be sexist, the sex of the teacher has been proven to affect her teaching methods. When choosing a book to read along with a kindergarten class, a female teacher may unconsciously choose a book that interests the girls in the class, such as one about butterflies, while ignoring books that are more male-oriented, such as those about robots or trucks. Boys tend to learn better when the subject matter is something that interests them and to tune out when it is a subject that does not.

Most people accept the fact that boys do not do as well in school as girls do. Knowing the reasons behind this situation can help you and his teachers to develop the proper learning program that will enable your son to be an academic success.

Chores And Children

May 16th, 2008 ScarlettCapelli Posted in Parenting | No Comments »

Most of us had to do chores when we were growing up. In today’s society, however, parents are drifted away from this practice. Chores are imperative as a source to teach your child responsibility, time management, and organization. These are all skills that your child will need as he grows into adulthood. There are several chores that will not only help to teach your child the skills that have already been mentioned, they are also housekeeping skills that every adult needs to know.

The first chore that many of us learned as small children was to make our bed. This simple activity teaches a child to be neat and also can help with time management development. Having your child make his bed before he goes to school will teach him that he only has a set amount of time to get the job done. After a few weeks, he will have no difficulty in having his bed made in time to leave for school.

Another chore that is beneficial to your child is cleaning his room. By teaching your child that there is a place for everything and everything has its place, you are also teaching him to keep his room organized. As your child grows, you can ask his opinion as to where he wants things to be placed in his room. You may be surprised at the amount of organization skills that he has developed.

When your child becomes age appropriate, you should begin teaching them their way around the kitchen. In today’s society, it is surprising that a number of young adults cannot cook for themselves. Younger children love to mix things, be it cake mix or dirt and water. Asking them to help gives them the feeling that they are helping and measuring or counting different ingredients is helpful in building their math skills. An older child can be taught to cook simple dishes. Having your child start with scrambled eggs or some other easy foods will at least ensure that after he grows up, he will not be coming to your house every night for dinner.

Laundry is another important skill that your child will need to know when he is an adult. Teaching your child how to sort colors, the proper water temperature that he should use, and when to add the fabric softener will also teach him to pay attention to detail. It can also help him with his organizational skills as he folds the clothing and systematically puts it away. Again, this may also prevent your college-age children from bringing two bags of laundry home for you to do every weekend.

These are a just a few of the many chores that you can assign to your child. You should keep in mind that your younger children may not do a very good job to begin with. Do not be critical of the job that they have done. The important thing is that they have completed the task. In a short amount of time, you may be surprised at how well your children perform these chores.

As the children improve, they will learn the importance of doing a task and doing it well. These chores will also prove to be helpful in their adult lives. As it is with everything else in life, practice makes perfect.

How To Spend Quality Time With Your Kids

May 16th, 2008 ScarlettCapelli Posted in Parenting | No Comments »

In this age of two-income families and working mothers, spending quality time with your children may seem impossible. Demanding work schedules and never-ending housework seem to have taken over your life. There are several things that you can do to ensure that you are able to spend the time that you need to with your family.

You can start by prioritizing and reorganizing your daily schedule. You should examine your daily schedule and organize your tasks beginning with those that are absolutely necessary to complete. You then need to eliminate the remaining ones. If a task is not essential, do not do it. You may be surprised at how much time you gain by doing this process. This elimination can be utilized at work as well as at home.

You may need to get your priorities straightened out as well. Playing at the park with your child outweighs reorganizing your garage. Reading with your child should be more important than the yard work. Decide what is most important to you and concentrate on those areas. The rest will be there later after you are done with your child.

Housework is the most senseless idea that mankind ever developed. You can spend hours at it every day and the next day it is still there. Instead of spending time daily on chores, you may want to take several hours during the weekend to do a thorough cleaning. Then during the rest of the week, it should take just a minimum of time to keep it clean. Your children can also aid you in this endeavor. With everyone’s help, the house can stay nice while you still have time to do the things that you want to.

Another thing to remember, especially if you are a working mother, is that your house will NEVER be spotless. No matter how hard you try, this is a no-win situation. You should just relax and accept this fact as inevitable. Obsessing over your housework is also taking much needed time away from your children. A little clutter never hurt anyone and gives your home that lived-in look.

In the case of the household chores that absolutely need to be done, you need to delegate the work. Even your smallest child is capable of doing some housework. You can assign your family tasks that are age-appropriate and show them how to complete them. Do not be overcritical as to how well the job gets done. The important thing is that you are giving your children some responsibility and freeing up some of your time as well.

You may also want to limit the number of activities that your children are involved in. You can ask your child which activity that he are most interested in and eliminate any others. If you have three children that are all involved with three activities, you may end up spending more of your time in transit than you do at home. By limiting these, you are freeing up time for both you and your children.

These are just a few of the many ways that you can find time to spend with your children. Again, if you prioritize and organize the tasks that must be done and eliminate all others, you may be surprised to discover that you had more time than you thought.

Cardiomyopathy… Don’t Take A Heart Transplant For An Answer!

May 16th, 2008 VeronaRaymond Posted in Medicines and Remedies | No Comments »

You don’t ever want to be hearing that you might be a candidate for a heart transplant. What steps can you take now to help avoid this?

You have been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy or congestive heart failure and there’s a possibility that you will be put on the heart transplant list. This can be very frightening to most of us! How did we get to this point in the first place?

Maybe it was lack of all the prescription drugs your doctor is now giving you. For some reason I don’ think that was why. The prescription drugs, as good as they are for helping your heart function well now, won’t be able to sustain the heart functions in the long run.

If you injured your leg muscles and couldn’t walk, would you use a crutch for the rest of your life or would you try physical therapy? You are allowing your leg muscles to get stronger and heal by using them with physical therapy. If you were to use a crutch from now on and never try to walk, you would certainly stay crippled.

Prescription drugs are like a crutch. They can only help for a certain amount of time and then your heart will eventually get weaker. The reason this happens is that your heart is not allowed to function on its own because of the drugs intervention. So then it doesn’t have a chance of getting stronger and healthier.

Taking just prescription drugs for treatment, hasn’t shown to heal cardiomyopathy. The common belief of the general public for years is that all you need to do is take a prescription drugs prescribed from your physician for most all of your health problems. Prescription drugs are a big business with hidden discrepancies. The prescribed drugs have not been the complete answer for the good of the patient’s health or healing. This is hurting the general public, both in their success of cardiomyopathy treatment, or any other major illness outcome. Not to mention the outrageous prescription drug prices!

It has been said that “you are what you eat.” That really rings true because your body can get run down or has a more difficult time fighting off even the common cold, if your diet mainly consists of junk food and excess sugar. In this case your heart was more than likely lacking important nutrients to keep it healthy. Your heart failure was a result of years of not feeding it the right nutrition.

It is up to you to help get back on the road to recovery with the recommended vitamins and nutrients. Remember, your cardiologist won’t mention nutrition along with your prescription drug treatment. They are not trained to incorporate that into the congestive heart failure or cardiomyopathy treatment.

Prescription drugs are not the complete answer for cardiomyopathy. Get correct nutritional information, and achieve the power you need to help you and your cardiomyopathy on the road to better health. You can stop worrying and start doing something about your cardiomyopathy treatment today!

Verona Raymond knows nutritional supplements and diet can be positively effective in the outcome of cardiomyopathy, and the health of your heart.
